Introduction. Оn the example of "Scientific-practical Сhildren’s and Adolescents Mental Health Center n.a. G. Sukhareva, Moscow Department of Health Care", this article brings up questions of the appearance and functionality of psychiatric hospitals. The purpose of the study: to determine the importance of the external appearance of the child psychiatric institution for the perception by patients and members of their families of the quality of the profile care provided. Research methods. It utilizes the data obtained from the projective study of mentally disordered children and their parents. 63 children were discussed to observe their perception of the psychiatric clinic. Also, 380 parents were surveyed while their children were hospitalized. The surveys were divided into four conceptual blocks: the necessity of the healthcare and support; willingness to cooperate; expectations from this particular Mental Health Center and the prior stigmatization experience. Results. It was noticed that the design and quality of the health center territory and buildings, had the direct influence on the relationships between physicians, patients, and their families. Discussion. Poor building and territory conditions were observed to strengthen parent’s stereotypes and misconceptions about the mental health clinics. As a result, the most overriding development of the child psychiatric care should be the revision of the social behavior towards the mental institutions. Conclusion. This can be achieved by the transforming the appearance of the entire hospital behavior: practice the friendly building design and well-organized territory. Moreover, the article denotes the benefits of the hospital look modernization. The transformation can gain the functionality of the buildings, increase the satisfaction and comfort of the patients, create the aesthetic and ergonomic conditions.
