Summary:
The development of frailty against the background of polymorbidity in men with aging is an unfavorable factor for the prognosis of disability and mortality. Against the background of an increase in the life expectancy of the population in the modern world, the determination of early signs of the development of frailty in patients with multiple chronic non-infectious diseases is relevant for geriatric practice. Purpose: to identify early predictors of the development of frailty in elderly and senile men suffering from polymorbid pathology. Materials and methods: 123 elderly and senile men were included in the study, the average age was 73.73 ± 5.87 years. The patients were examined using clinical and laboratory methods. Results. Elderly and senile men with aging revealed multiple chronic non-infectious diseases, with age there is a significant decrease in weight, body mass index, waist circumference, indicators of hand dynamometry, glomerular filtration rate. Statistically significant correlations of the Charlson comorbidity index with age, weight, hand grip strength, glomerular filtration rate were revealed; indicators of hand dynamometry with age, body mass index, waist circumference, Charlson comorbidity index and total plasma protein level. Conclusions. Early detection of signs of the development of senile asthenia, such as a decrease in body weight, body mass index, waist circumference, hand grip strength, glomerular filtration rate, is necessary to prevent its development and progression.
