Summary:
Introduction. According to recent statistical studies, arterial hypertension (AG) is the leading cause of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and considered one of the most common risk factors that often leads to death from cardiovascular complications in patients. This research paper aims to investigate methods for the secondary prevention of cardiovascular complications from AG in elderly patients enrolled in a health school. Aim. Analyze the technologies of secondary prevention (non-medical correction of risk factors) of the main cardiovascular complications in elderly patients suffering from AG and studying at the school of health. Materials and methods. For this study, a sample of 216 elderly patients suffering from AG was made. In addition, two large patient groups were identified: the core group and the comparison group. Half of the patients (108 people) who had been trained at the school of health in specialized medical organizations of Kursk made up the main group. The second group included patients (108 persons) who had not undergone a cycle of training at the school of health but received standard recommendations from a doctor-therapist at an outpatient appointment. In the course of the study, the lifestyle of patients was monitored after 6,12,36 months on the following parameters: adherence to physical activity; weight control (BMI calculation, waist circumference measurement); nutritional factors (caloric intake of food, excessive salt intake); harmful habits (alcohol intake, smoking); frequency of psycho-emotional loadings per week. Results. A three-year study of non-medicinal correction of risk factors for cardiovascular complications of AG between two groups of patients revealed the benefits of the training program at the school of health in terms of lifestyle changes for elderly patients with AG. Over a three-year period, a large number of patients in the main group revised their attitudes to alcohol and tobacco use (p
