Summary:
In recent years, the development of practical gerontology has been marked by the fact that the social protection system is increasingly involved in the implementation of medical geriatric rehabilitation practices. However, the practice requires a convenient tool for assessing health disorders associated with a decrease in intrinsic capacity in elderly and senile people. Purpose: to study important health disorders associated with a decrease in intrinsic capacity in elderly and senile people, and to determine the most convenient tools for their assessment. Material and methods. 1220 people aged 65 years and older were examined, the maximum age was 89 years, the average age was 75.2+2.4 years, men-501 people, women-719 people. All the people included in the study lived at home. Of these, 402 people were recipients of social services, and 818 people were not. This survey was conducted in six therapeutic areas of outpatients' clinic – two from each region included in the study, selected by a random method. Results: The authors found that among elderly and senile patients who are recipients of social services, such health disorders associated with a decrease in intrinsic capacity, such as cognitive decline, decreased motor activity, nutritional disorders, hearing loss and symptoms of depression, were significantly more common (ps an effective tool for assessing functionality in clinical social gerontology work.
