Summary:
Introduction. The increase in the incidence of diseases of the genitourinary system registered over the past 30 years dictates new requirements for the provision of medical care to the adult population in the urology profile. The quality and availability of specialized medical care in the treatment of diseases of the genitourinary system largely depends on the availability of urologists. The existing problem of the provision of urologists in a number of regions requires coverage and correction of personnel policy. Purpose. To assess the dynamics of staffing with urologists providing medical care to the adult population in 2015-2019 in the Russian Federation. Materials and methods. The study used statistical and analytical methods. The official statistical data of Rosstat, the Ministry of Health of Russia and the Federal State Budgetary Institution of the Ministry of Health of Russia as a whole for the Russian Federation and the constituent entities of the Russian Federation were used. Results. In general, in Russia there was an increase in the provision of urologists from 2015 to 2019, however, in 39% of regions, on the contrary, there was a decrease in this indicator. At the same time, against the background of a decrease in the number of individuals and staff positions, there was an increase in the provision of urologists providing medical care to the adult population on an outpatient and inpatient basis. The revealed decrease in the combination rate of urologists for the study period from 2015 to 2019 may indicate a decrease in the burden on the doctor. Discussion and conclusions. Despite the increase in the availability of urologists in many regions, an increase in the staffing rate and a decrease in the combination rate, the listed indicators in many constituent entities of the Russian Federation do not correspond to the recommended ones, which requires an adequate personnel policy, especially in the provision of primary health care. The existing shortage of staff in the outpatient department may indicate an insufficient attractiveness of working conditions to ensure a sufficient number of qualified urologists working in the private medical sector.
