QUALITY OF LIFE IN ELDERLY PATIENTS WITH SEVERE POSTMENOPAUSAL OSTEOPOROSIS

Summary:
Osteoporosis in terms of medical and social significance ranks fourth among non-communicable diseases, in addition, it is an age-associated pathology with a constant increase in the incidence among the elderly.
Purpose of the study: to study the quality of life in elderly patients with severe osteoporosis using the SF-36 and QUALEFFO-41 quality of life questionnaires.
Materials and methods of the study: the survey included 228 elderly women (mean age 65,1±7,46 years) with postmenopausal osteoporosis, of which 132 people had a history of fractures - group 1, without fractures - 96 people - group 2. Bone mineral density was determined using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) on a Norland XR-46 apparatus. The quality of life was studied using the SF-36 and QUALEFFO-41 questionnaires.
