Summary:
Introduction. As more and more people live longer and healthier lives, and the number of elderly people increases, society is obliged to think about the nature and genesis of the attitude and perception of its youth towards the elderly. Although their numbers may be large, older people often find themselves at the center of negative social attitudes, which makes them vulnerable to a form of prejudice known as ageism. The present study is devoted to the problem of gerontological education of the younger generation, which contributes not only to the transfer of experience and knowledge gained by previous generations, but also to the transfer of basic knowledge of aspects of education. Purpose: The purpose of this article is to: (1) determine the level of knowledge in primary school children; and (2) provide recommendations on how to promote gerontological education. Material and methods of research. 125 primary school students (1 and 2), students of MBOU "Gymnasium No. 5" of Belgorod took part in the study. The data were obtained by survey and questionnaire methods using an original questionnaire adapted for children. The perception and attitude of children to aging and the elderly was studied using the survey and questionnaire method using an original questionnaire consisting of eight questions, with ranking of the results of the study, which were analyzed and described, and later applied in the construction of the toolkit model, which was based on the implementation of the project, which was implemented for 4 years (from 2019 years to 2023). Results. An analysis of all responses to the study of discrimination of older people in younger schoolchildren showed that 76.8% (95 people) have manifestations of ageism. At the same time, 34.4% (43) live together with their grandparents. And most children believe that the elderly only relax and do what they love.
