STANDARDIZED MORTALITY COEFFICIENTS OF THE POPULATION OF FOREIGN COUNTRIES WITH DIFFERENT HUMAN DEVELOPMENT INDEX

Summary:
Introduction. The article analyzes the mortality rate in foreign countries as one of the reliable indicators of the health status of the population. The authors analyze the structure of mortality by the main classes of death with the purpose to increase life expectancy. The purpose of the study is to study the standardized mortality rates of the population and its structure in foreign countries with different Human Development Index. Materials and methods of the study. The authors estimate the standardized mortality rates of the European Mortality Database (MDB) for the main classes of causes of death in the countries of the European Union and the European Region of the World Health Organization with different Human Development Index (HDI) in 1990, 2000, 2010, 2019. The authors study the standardized mortality rates of four countries with very high HDI, six countries with high HDI and two countries with medium HDI. Results. Standardized mortality rates from all causes of the population in the studied countries with very high levels of HDI are lower than in the countries of the European Union and the WHO European Region, and this rates in countries with high and medium HDI levels are higher. The authors note the significant fluctuations in mortality rates of causes of death and in shares of the mortality structure in the countries. In the structure of mortality of the whole population of countries, diseases of the circulatory system and neoplasms get the first and second places; diseases of the respiratory and nervous systems and conditions related to the class of Symptoms and external causes. – the third. Conclusion. The article concludes significant fluctuations in the values of standardized mortality rates for causes of death in foreign countries. At the same time, diseases of the circulatory system, neoplasms, diseases of the respiratory and nervous systems get leading places in the structure of mortality in all countries, which is the basis for studying international experience in reducing mortality from these diseases in aim to develop measures to increase life expectancy.
