Summary:
Relevance. Due to the partial or complete absence of teeth, a large part of the elderly and senile population uses removable lamellar dentures, which often cause inflammation of the oral mucosa. To improve the quality of life of patients with such a diagnosis, it is necessary to conduct their examination using an integrated interdisciplinary approach. Establishing the causes and treatment of such diseases is an important factor at the present stage. Purpose: To study the effect of gastrointestinal tract dysbacteriosis on the development of prosthetic stomatitis in elderly and senile patients using removable lamellar dentures. Material and research methods. Study of the causes of inflammatory processes and dysfunctional changes in the oral mucosa in patients using removable lamellar dentures. Often, pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) are unfavorably reflected on the oral mucosa (OM). In this connection, clinical and laboratory research methods were carried out: collection of dental and allergic anamnesis, identification of intestinal dysbacteriosis. Results of the study: The study involved 38 elderly and senile patients who applied for dental care with problems in the oral cavity while wearing lamellar acrylic prostheses. Allergic stomatitis was revealed in 31 patients, toxic stomatitis in 7. The presence of chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract was noted by 29 people. All 38 patients were examined by a gastroenterologist. They analyzed the intestinal microflora, which showed signs of dysbacteriosis of varying degrees in 34 patients. In the control group of 9 people who denied the presence of gastrointestinal diseases, only 4 patients did not have intestinal dysbacteriosis. Conclusions: As a result of the study, the relationship between the presence of diseases of the oral mucosa in patients using partial or complete removable laminar dentures and the severity of their intestinal dysbacteriosis was revealed, which confirms the importance and necessity of an interdisciplinary approach of dentists and gastroenterologists in the treatment of patients with prosthetic stomatitis.
Keywords elderly and senile patients, prosthetic stomatitis, oral microflora, intestinal dysbacteriosis.
