SOME METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE QUALITY OF LIFE ASSESSING IN ELDERLY PATIENTS WITH CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES

Summary:
Introduction. Improving of the population's quality of life is an interdisciplinary problem and the important aspect of the state's policy. This problem is interesting because of the decrease of the severity of pathological processes according to clinical, laboratory, and instrumental examination data is not obligatory accompanied by corresponding improvement of cases well-being. Due to the integral nature of the quality of life indicators, both cardiovascular diseases and geriatric syndromes can affect them. However, the nature of their combined effect is not well studied. Research objectives are to analyze and summarize the literature data about methodology of the quality of life assessment in elderly cases with cardiovascular diseases Materials and methods. The theoretical scientific method was applied; the literature data about the methods of quality of life assessment was analyzed. It was considered the possible combined effect of cardiovascular diseases and geriatric status on quality of life. Results. On the basement of the literature data, it is given a brief history of the "quality of life" term implementation in the clinical practice. The factors that can affect the quality of life are described. It is briefly characterized the existing methods of quality of life assessing with various scales and questionnaires; it is considered the role of modification of the health and disease internal pictures for adaptation to a new social situation of development that is caused by cardiovascular disease. It is analyzed the methodology and role of comprehensive geriatric examination and importance of this examination for the quality of life assessing. There are considered the methods of the physical, functional, psycho-emotional and social status assessing that is applied for the comprehensive geriatric examination. Conclusion. The results of the performed analysis demonstrate the possibility of significant impact of geriatric status and cardiac pathology on the quality of life of elderly and senile cases. However, the nature of their combined effect on the quality of life requires further researches. It seems appropriate to use in clinical practice an integrated approach that allows consider the combined effects of the old age and cardiovascular pathology on the quality of life.
