Summary:
Introduction: according to a number of authors, malignant breast tumors pose a serious medical and social problem, given the high level of newly identified morbidity and prevalence, including among women of working age, which also causes a high level of socio-economic burden of this disease. Objective: to analyze the indicators of newly identified and general morbidity breast cancer of women in a large industrial city for the period from 2017 to 2021, using the example of the city of Moscow. Materials and methods: a complete retrospective study using data copying. Results: in 2021, about 6,807,300 women lived permanently in Moscow, which is 2.13% more than in 2017 (6,62,000 women). During the analyzed period, there was an increase in the female population in the city of Moscow, with the exception of the period from 2020 to 2021. Standardized indicators of the newly detected incidence of breast cancer in women in Moscow (WHO world standard for age, 2000) were higher than in the Russian Federation in 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2020, this indicator in Moscow became lower than the national one, and in 2021, the difference in the standardized incidence rate increased. There has been a steady increase in the overall incidence of breast cancer over the analyzed period. Discussion: trends in the growth of general morbidity in the city of Moscow can be explained by several reasons: 1. An increase in the proportion of patients registered at the dispensary for 5 years or more with a diagnosis of breast cancer from the entire contingent of patients with this diagnosis from 62.5% in 2017 to 64.1% in 2021 and, related to this, an increase in the index of accumulation of the contingent from 10.9 in 2017 and 13.9 in 2021. 2. An almost twofold decrease in the mortality rate in the first year after the diagnosis of breast cancer from 5.7 to 2.9% in the 5 years to 2021. Conclusion: in Moscow, there is a trend towards a decrease in the rate of newly diagnosed breast cancer, which is explained by a decrease in the level of planned oncological care in terms of early detection of this pathology among the female population associated with the pandemic of a new coronavirus infection. But despite this, due to the improvement in the indicators of one-year mortality and 5-year survival in patients with malignant neoplasms of the breast in Moscow, the level of general morbidity is steadily increasing.
