Summary:
Introduction. Palliative care is an important component of healthcare and was designated as an independent type of medical care by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in 2011. It is a complex of medical interventions aimed at alleviating suffering and pain, as well as improving the quality of life of terminally ill citizens. The basic principles of palliative care are the priority of quality of life over duration. Instead of focusing on prolonging the patient's life, the focus is on reducing suffering and achieving maximum comfort and independence for the patient. The purpose of the study. To reduce the degree of depressive disorders, insomnia in palliative patients. Evaluate the effectiveness of the methodology in improving sleep and emotional state. Materials and methods. Since etiopathogenetic treatment of palliative patients is impractical, it has become necessary to develop alternative methods to improve the quality of life of such patients. It seems relevant to compare the level of anxiety and stress in palliative patients. The article discusses the general aspects of palliative care in the Russian Federation, comparative characteristics of patients by nosology, and also provides a study based on the department of palliative care OGBUZ "Bolshetroitskaya District Hospital". Results. The main problems faced by palliative care staff in caring for patients are: internal poisoning, cardiovascular and respiratory failure, organ deterioration, constipation, cachexia, depression, and insomnia. As a result, there was a decrease in the total depression scale score in the study cohort. Conclusions. Psychotherapeutic care based on improving patients' sleep in palliative care units is in demand and effective for the care of terminally ill patients.
