Summary:
Introduction: A clear understanding of the existence of an association of the disease with age, as well as prompt monitoring of the situation, are extremely important for organizing geriatric care to the population, a competent and balanced distribution of funds. The final result of the optimization of measures is an increase in the duration and quality of life, a decrease in the disability of the population. The purpose of the study: to develop and substantiate an expanded arsenal of epidemiological indicators for solving a wide range of applied and fundamental problems in gerontology and geriatrics. Materials and methods: Statistical collections of the Ministry of Health of Russia and Rosstat for 2014-2019 acted as materials. Calculations were made: the ratio of the incidence rate among people over working age to the incidence rate of the adult population (age-specific incidence index (ASII)); odds ratios (chance of developing the disease in persons older than working age); Spearman correlation coefficient. The analysis was carried out both by disease groups and by individual nosologies. Results: The analysis performed demonstrated a strong direct correlation relationship (r = 0.87) between the age-specific incidence index and the odds ratio, suggesting the consistency of the developed index. Discussion: The index can be used as one of the criteria for age-association of pathology (a value exceeding 1 indicates a late manifestation of the disease). In addition, ASII allows you to assess the priority of the manifestation of the disease at the population level. The developed index also has prognostic potential. Conclusion: Thus, the age incidence index is a promising indicator in gerontology and geriatrics as a vector in solving tactical and strategic problems. In addition, this application metric can be useful in fundamental gerontology.
Keywords age-specific incidence index, age-associated diseases
