GOUT AND HYPERURICEMIA IN ELDERLY AND SENIOR WOMEN WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS AND FRAILTY SYNDROME

Summary:
Background. Currently, there is increasing interest in the medical community in the relationship of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with various age-associated diseases and conditions, among which special attention is paid to frailty and various diseases of the musculoskeletal system, including gout. Type 2 diabetes, frailty and gout in various combinations mutually aggravate each other, worsen the prognosis and contribute to disability and an increased risk of premature death. Aim. To study the incidence of gout and the severity of hyperuricemia in elderly and senile women with type 2 diabetes mellitus, with frailty syndrome. Materials and methods. Our cross-sectional study included 328 women aged 65 to 85 years (mean age 72.5 ± 2.4 years), of which 169 people did not have a history of type 2 diabetes (group 1) and 159 women suffered from this disease (group 2). Using the questionnaire "Age is not a hindrance" in each of the groups, the subjects were divided into 3 subgroups: "with frailty", "with pre-frailty" and "robust". In order to identify chronic diseases, an analysis of outpatient patient records was made. All patients underwent a biochemical blood test for uric acid and glycated hemoglobin. Results. The prevalence of frailty and pre-frailty in group 1 was 55.03 and 34.91%, respectively, in group 2, commensurate results were revealed (53.45% and 34.60%, respectively).
