Introduction Atopic dermatitis is one of the most common skin diseases, especially among children. The aim of the study was to study the characteristics of medical and social characteristics of children with atopic dermatitis. Material and methods. The observation group consisted of 350 children aged 13–17 years with atopic dermatitis, compared to 350 children of similar age I-II health groups without allergic diseases. The analysis of medical documents of children, the survey of parents. Main results. Analysis of anamnestic data and information from medical records of children with atopic dermatitis showed that all children were under medical observation. Of the total number of adolescents studied, the diagnosis of atopic dermatitis was established in the first year of the disease in 90.6%. Low adherence of patients to outpatient observation by specialist doctors, inpatient treatment, follow-up treatment recommendations, and insufficient coverage with sanatorium-resort treatment was revealed. Analysis of the patient's therapeutic activity showed that most of them were treated on an outpatient basis at the time of the debut of the disease (65.1%). Children with atopic dermatitis, especially with severe course, were more often brought up in single-parent families with strained relations, lived in unfavorable living conditions, were influenced by some adverse factors. In families of children with severe atopic dermatitis, the rate of smoking in families was significantly higher than in children with mild and moderate severity of the disease and in the families of the comparison group. Conclusion. Dysfunctional factors in the family affect the severity of atopic dermatitis in children. Spa treatment remains an integral part of rehabilitation for children with chronic pathology.
