Summary:
Longevity is a unique example of physiological aging, slow involutive changes, long – term maintenance of homeostasis, and high adaptive potential. In this regard, the study of physiological and pathological features of various body systems in this group of people, taking into account natural, geographical, social, and environmental factors, is of particular interest, both in scientific and applied aspects. Objective: to study the incidence, anthropometric and clinical and laboratory indicators of long-lived residents of the Samara region. Materials and methods: our work is based on the analysis of the results of a survey of 62 centenarians aged 90 to 101 years, with an average age of 92.29±2.40 years. The study is a single-stage, selective one. The structure of the morbidity of centenarians was analyzed, anthropometric characteristics and clinical and laboratory data were studied. Results. The presence of polymorbidity is typical for centenarians, most diseases are chronic and in remission, the Charlson comorbidity index in the examined population of centenarians of the Samara region is 8.37±2.55 points, without gender differences. Analysis of anthropometric indicators showed the predominance of normosthenic physique among people who have crossed the 90-year mark. The study of laboratory parameters revealed a trend to a dynamic increase in the population of centenarians in Samara region total cholesterol and triglycerides with increased HDL and reduced LDL. In the absence of sharp deviations of creatinine levels in centenarians from the reference values, men showed a significant decrease in GFR to 64.38±18.15 ml/min/1,73m2, women - to 44.82±14.56, ml/min/1,73m2. Conclusions. Longevity is an example of hereditary health preserved under conditions of polymorbidity. Despite the satisfactory adaptive potential, dynamic monitoring of centenarians requires special attention to the functioning of the kidneys, calculating the glomerular filtration rate, rather than routine determination of creatinine.
