Summary:
Relevance. Inflammatory diseases of the middle ear are one of the frequent complications of acute respiratory diseases. Among the total number of diseases of the upper respiratory tract, inflammatory diseases of the middle ear occupy 20-30% of cases. The long course of inflammatory diseases of the middle ear leads to frequent hearing loss, reduced immunity, exacerbation of chronic diseases. All this entails disability, as well as economic losses due to the cost of treatment. Purpose of the study. To assess the impact of the incidence of acute respiratory infections on the development of the inflammatory process of the middle ear. Materials and methods. The epidemiological study was carried out in the design of a retrospective analytical cohort study of cases of temporary disability in the adult population, using statistical and analytical methods with the identification of a causal relationship using MIS, which provides the primary collection, storage, selection and grouping of data on the incidence of patients, followed by calculations of the relative risk and its 95% confidence interval. Results and discussions. Thanks to the reference architecture of the medical information system (MIS) of Intel-Clinic, 88,735 disability certificates issued in 2014–2019 were analyzed. After selection of 4980 patients with acute respiratory infections, 1461 patients made up the main group (often sick - more than 3 times a season) and 3519 patients - the control group (rarely sick - from 1 to 2 times a season). Also, the number of patients with a somatic disease was 16 (men - 10, women - 6), and the number without a somatic disease was 6 (men - 4, women - 2). A statistically significant relationship was found between the incidence of acute respiratory infections and the development of the inflammatory process of the middle ear. Conclusions. The use of MIS in medical organizations (MO) allows monitoring the health status of various population groups, including those with socially significant diseases and patients from risk groups. It allows to improve the epidemiological surveillance of various types of diseases. Statistical accounting of hospitalization, patient mortality, cases of temporary disability allows timely planning and implementation of preventive anti-epidemic diseases.
Keywords Acute respiratory diseases, acute otitis media, medical information systems, epidemiological surveillance.
