Background. The existing model of providing dental care to patients with periodontal diseases on an outpatient basis was prescribed in the recommended textbooks for universities and has not changed for several decades, which is also translated into existing clinical guidelines for diagnoses of gingivitis and periodontitis, despite their timely updating. The purpose of the study is to study the current model of organizing the provision of dental care to patients with periodontal diseases and to develop a new evidence-based algorithm for routing patients with periodontal diseases in the provision of dental care on an outpatient basis. Methods. The main methodological technique in studying the organization of dental care for patients with periodontal diseases was its consideration from the standpoint of a systematic approach, representing the process of interaction between the patient and medical personnel, and regulatory documents regulating this process. Also, the method of field observation, content analysis of legal documentation, as well as general scientific experimental methods of observation and modeling were used in the work. Results. The study of the organization of care for patients with periodontal diseases on an experimental basis showed that the lack of continuity, as well as clear algorithms and mandatory checklists for visits to specialists, makes it impossible for the patient to receive high-quality and timely periodontal care. Complexity and consistency in approaches to the prevention and treatment of periodontal diseases within the framework of the existing model in a real dental clinic are not observed due to the lack of knowledge among doctors about the implementation of the principle of continuity in the management of such patients, their competent routing and the lack of clear complex algorithms for providing them with care. In view of this, an algorithm was developed and proposed for routing patients with periodontal diseases in the provision of dental care on an outpatient basis, where a key role is assigned to the dental hygienist. For visual clarity, convenience of the patient and specialists involved in the treatment of periodontal diseases, a checklist for routing a patient with periodontal diseases was developed. Conclusion. The use of the proposed patient routing algorithm and the checklist will increase the availability of dental care for patients with periodontal diseases, early identification of risk groups, and, as a result, reduce the prevalence of periodontal disease, and will also help prolong the periods of remission of chronic periodontal diseases and reduce their severity.
