Summary:
Pharmacy workers are daily exposed to complex effects of adverse production factors of a chemical, biological nature, factors of the labor process (forced working posture, emotional overstrain). Together with violations of the principles of rational nutrition, these unfavorable factors increase the risks of the formation of alimentary-dependent and occupationally conditioned conditions among workers. At the same time, the analysis of the actual nutrition and nutritional status of pharmacy workers requires additional study due to insufficient study of the issue in domestic and foreign literature.
The research goal was a hygienic assessment of the actual nutrition, nutritional status and diet of pharmacy workers.
Materials and methods. The study involved 112 people, according to the nature of their work, referred to the group with low physical activity. To assess the actual nutrition, a questionnaire-survey method was used, the frequency of consumption of basic products was assessed, the nutrient profile of the diet was obtained using the Nutri-prof software package (version 2.9). The body mass index (BMI) was calculated taking into account the height and weight characteristics of individuals.
Results and discussion. Identified violations of the diet, as well as actual nutrition, characterized by insufficient consumption of vegetables, fruits, meat, milk and dairy products, excessive consumption of sugar and confectionery, especially in the group of women. The nutrient profile of the rations did not meet the recommended levels of energy value, there was an insufficient intake of protein, dietary fiber, while the consumption of fats, added sugar was at a high level. An analysis of the micronutrient profile revealed a deficiency in the intake of a number of mineral components, in addition, it was shown that only 7% of men and 12% of women were provided with all the studied vitamins. More than half of the surveyed both sexes had an excess nutritional status.
Conclusion. The results of the study showed a high prevalence of violations of the principles of rational nutrition in the study group, which, together with low physical activity, eating disorders, form an excessive nutritional status among the examined, increasing the risk of developing alimentary-dependent diseases in the study group. Additional elaboration of the issue of studying actual nutrition in a professional group of pharmacy workers will make it possible to form an effective program for the prevention of alimentary-dependent diseases.
