Introduction. The market for veterinary drugs in modern Russia is under great pressure from both internal political decisions regarding the regulation of the circulation of veterinary drugs, and external changes associated with the departure of large foreign manufacturers from the country and the complication of logistics solutions. This study is aimed at analyzing the current situation with drug supply in veterinary medicine to determine trends and ways for further development of the market for drugs for veterinary use in Russia. Purpose. Conduct an analysis of factors influencing the development of the Russian veterinary drugs market. Materials and methods. The materials for the study were: legislative acts regulating the circulation of medicines for veterinary use in the Russian Federation; register of medicinal products for veterinary use of the Russian Federation; open statistics; data presented by representatives of the National Veterinary Association at public conferences. To obtain the results, the following methods were used: content analysis, information and analytical review of data, situational and logical analysis. Results and discussion. The modern circulation of medicinal products for veterinary use in Russia is undergoing serious transformations: accelerated (simplified) registration of medicinal products for veterinary use has been introduced; a mandatory requirement for a GMP certificate has been introduced for foreign manufacturers; large foreign pharmaceutical companies are leaving the market; there are logistical difficulties. External factors affecting the modern market of medicines for veterinary use have a depressing effect and, of course, have a negative impact on the veterinary industry. Today in veterinary pharmacy there is a situation close to a shortage of drugs for veterinary use: there are problems in the supply of the most important vaccines and drugs that have no analogues in Russia. Conclusion. In the market, despite the positive dynamics of the register of registered medicinal products for veterinary use, a negative situation has developed. The lack of vaccines and medications, which are essential for the stable functioning of veterinary medicine, certainly leads to an increase in morbidity both among domestic animals and within the agricultural sector, which additionally puts a strain on the country’s economy. Simplification of registration of drugs for veterinary use has not yet produced significant results and, probably, comprehensive measures are needed to restore drug supply in veterinary medicine.
