Summary:
Introduction. Sarcopenic obesity is an insufficiently studied condition in geriatric practice both among patients with somatic pathology and among patients with visual impairment. In addition, the deficit and somatic status of patients with sarcopenic obesity and visual impairment remain virtually unknown. The aim of the study - study of the deficit and somatic status of patients with sarcopenic obesity and visual impairment. Material and methods. The main group included 248 patients with sarcopenic obesity and visual impairment due to open-angle glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and cataracts. The comparison group is represented by 215 patients of the same age with visual impairment due to the same diseases as in the main group, but without sarcopenic obesity. Somatic status (heart disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, arthritis, lung diseases) and deficiency status (cognitive impairment, depression, anxiety and falls syndrome) were studied in patients of both groups using conventional methods. The indicators of prevalence, relative risk, confidence intervals, standard deviations were calculated. The results of the study. It was found that the prevalence of diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, and arthritis is statistically significantly higher in patients with visual impairment and sarcopenic obesity. Thus, the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in the main group was 48,5±2,0 per 100 examined compared to 40,2±1,9 per 100 examined in the comparison group, osteoporosis – 22,7±1,6 cases and 15,8±1,7 cases, arthritis – 63,4±2,0 and 54,5±2,3 cases, respectively. Significant differences were also revealed in the deficit status of patients of the compared groups with a predominance of the prevalence of cognitive impairment, depression, anxiety and falling syndrome (p
