Summary:
Introduction. According to the forecasts of the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of elderly people will reach 2.1 billion by 2050, and therefore optimizing healthy aging of the population is a priority area of medicine. Often, there is no geriatric approach to the patient in the healthcare system, and the existing needs of society outstrip existing achievements. Today, an urgent task is to develop training tools at all levels of education and clinical practice to teach the rules of using questionnaires and scales in the framework of comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGE), early detection of geriatric syndromes.
The aim is to provide a system for improving the quality of medical care by introducing educational programs in geriatrics based on the developed model of end–to-end gerontological education (CSE).
Materials and methods. Within the framework of the international study "GIRAFFE" (full name of the project "Gerontological International Research Against Frailty – Fit Experience"), studies were conducted to assess and optimize the level of knowledge and skills of students, residents, practitioners and teachers in the field of geriatrics (N=2018) by developing and implementing a CDF model. The model has been implemented in subordinate organizations of the FMBA system of Russia, in the health and social protection system of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Kemerovo Region, in the medical service of social protection institutions of the Belgorod Region and Primorsky Krai. The assessment of the level of knowledge of specialists in gerontology was carried out using the system of testing and control of practical skills of the Academy of Postgraduate Education of the Federal State Budgetary Institution FNCC FMBA of Russia according to a 100-point system.
