Summary:
Relevance. The insufficient number of pediatric studies and predictive models, and the uncertain extrapolation of adult data to pediatrics, create serious problems and require global efforts to overcome them. The same applies to palliative care for children, aimed at restoring the functional, physiological, psychological, and social functions of the child. In this regard, it is of interest to study both domestic and foreign experience in providing palliative care to children, primarily children with neurosurgical pathology, which was the purpose of the study. Research method: study and analysis of foreign scientific literature on the peculiarities of providing palliative medical care to children using eLibrary, PubMed, Google Scholar, Web of Science databases for 2015-2023. Results and discussion. The European Association of Palliative Care has compiled a World Atlas, reflecting the levels of development of pediatric palliative care in different countries of the world. According to research results in the world literature, the possibility of integrating palliative care into non-specialized social services is being considered. A promising direction seems to be the integration of pediatric palliative care and certain areas of pediatrics, and the possibility of actively involving nursing staff in the provision of pediatric palliative care is being studied. Thus, in the USA there is the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) and a number of other measures. Conclusions. In foreign countries, standards for the provision of pediatric palliative care are actively developing, with mandatory state support, the involvement of non-medical specialists, volunteers, etc. The Atlas of Palliative Care of the European Association of Palliative Care is of interest. Help is actively provided not only to the sick child, but also to loved ones caring for him. The effectiveness of certain areas of pediatric palliative care is being studied. At the same time, a number of measures were noted for the development of palliative medical care for children, which can be integrated into the domestic healthcare system.
