ORGANIZATION OF MEDICAL CARE FOR PATIENTS WITH DIABETIC RETINOPATHY IN TOMSK REGION

Summary:
Relevance. In the Russian Federation, as well as in all countries of the world, there is a significant increase in the prevalence of diabetes. The main reason for the disability of patients with diabetes is its micro- and macrovascular complications, in particular diabetic retinopathy, which, if detected late, leads to blindness. In the system of organizing medical care for patients with diabetic retinopathy in Russia, there are several problems that persist. These include uneven distribution of staffing resources, variability in the availability of ophthalmologists to the population, a tendency to increase the burden on outpatient clinics, insufficient material and technical equipment, reduction in the number of hospital beds, and a shortage of qualified ophthalmologists. Given the socio-economic, physico-geographical, and other characteristics of the subjects that influence interregional differences in the organization of medical care in ophthalmology, identifying factors to improve in the future will outline the pathways for optimizing and improving the accessibility and quality of specialized medical care for diabetic retinopathy at the regional level, which is extremely relevant.
Research objective: To study the peculiarities of the healthcare system organization for patients with diabetic retinopathy in the Tomsk region.
Materials and methods: An analysis of the activities of the ophthalmological service in the Tomsk region was conducted based on the official statistics materials of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Central Scientific Research Institute of Organization and Informatization of Healthcare" of the Ministry of Health of Russia for the years 2013-2022, data from the form of the federal statistical observation No. 30 "Information on medical organization", the normative and legal information database "Consultant +", the Federal State Budgetary Institution "National Medical Research Center" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, and the territorial branch of the Federal State Statistics Service for the Tomsk region.
