Summary:
Thanks to advances in modern reproductive medicine, the use of ART has become more widespread. In conditions of significant demographic problems, infertility treatment using ART is considered as a reserve for population reproduction.
Purpose: to assess the characteristics of the medical and social characteristics of individual age groups of patients at the Center for Reproduction and Family Planning.
Materials and methods. Using a specially developed questionnaire “Card of medical and social examination of women suffering from infertility,” an anonymous survey was conducted of 398 women whose pregnancy resulted from the use of ART. The significance of differences in indicators was assessed using Student's t-test and contingency tables using the Pearson Chi-square test (χ2). Differences were considered significant at page and with higher education increased. 63.2% of patients aged 35 years and older planned to have only one child. The average number of planned children was greatest in the age group of 25-34 years (M±m=2.02±0.10 children), and least important among respondents 35 years and older (M±m=160±0.09 children) A pronounced influence of age was revealed when assessing the distribution of patients who overcame infertility using ART, according to the number of IVF procedures (χ2=156.95; p=0.000), level of education (χ2=14.16; p=0.003), financial situation (χ2= 37.48; p=0.000), housing conditions (χ2=16.81; p=0.002), marital status (χ2=14.23; p=0.000) and the number of planned children (χ2=14.16; p=0.003). There was no significant influence of age on the distribution of patients by place of residence (χ2=4.98; p=0.08), employment (χ2=3.66; p=0.13) and presence of children (χ2=3.56; p=0.12).
Conclusion. As the age of a woman receiving infertility treatment using ART increases, the number of IVF procedures increases until a positive result is achieved. Each age group of patients at the Center for Reproduction and Family Planning has its own medical and social characteristics. In patients who have overcome infertility using ART, age is a factor that has a statistically significant effect on the number of IVF procedures, level of education, financial situation, living conditions, marital status and the number of planned children. A pronounced influence on the distribution of patients by place of residence, employment and presence of children has not been established.
