ANTI-TUBERCULOSIS MEASURES AS A BASIS FOR PREVENTION OF DISABILITY DUE TO TUBERCULOSIS

Summary:
Introduction. The illusion of tuberculosis (TB curability) assumes its minimal disability. Recently the issue of providing anti-tuberculosis care to TB patients with disabilitiy has been actively discussed. Purpose: to identify the main directions for the prevention of disability due to tuberculosis. Materials and methods. A study of legislative and regulatory documents, WHO recommendations, and medical journal websites was carried out using key queries reflecting the topic of the study. Prophylactics of TB can be considered one of the most effective measures to prevent disability due to TB. Vaccine prophylaxis, immunodiagnostics, contacts examination and other measures significantly decreases the possibility of TB disability, reduce the number of TB patients and becomes an effective measure for the primary prevention of TB disability. Timely TB detection when organ damages are insignificant and there is no bacterial excretion, using modern organizational capabilities such as video-controlled treatment and so called home-hospitalization makes TB patients’ treatment effective and prevents disability. The implementation of molecular-genetic examination for diagnosis verification and the MTB drug sensitivity tests, the use of X-ray modern technologies, invasive methods and biopsies are important for TB diagnosis and treatment. The most important component of TB disability preventing is treatment with using adequate modern chemotherapy regimens, laboratory capabilities, including monitoring adverse reactions, treatment of complications and concomitant diseases. TB rehabilitation is secondary and tertiary disability prophylactics because it prevents the chronic TB and complications. Carrying out all necessary activities in each of the dispensary groups helps reduce the risk of disability. Conclusion. Disability due to tuberculosis is a multicomponent medical and social problem and requires a comprehensive solution. Strict implementation of all stages of anti-tuberculosis care from prevention and timely detection to treatment, rehabilitation and high-quality dispensary observation can significantly reduce the risk of TB disability developing and reduce its burden on healthcare.
