Materials and methods: domestic and foreign sources of literature related to the problem of cerebral palsy and other paralytic syndromes under consideration were studied. The study used analytical and monographic methods.
Results and discussions: Cerebral palsy is a multifactorial disease of the nervous system, the etiology of which is based on antenatal, intranatal, postnatal and hereditary factors. Cerebral palsy in children is characterized by a high prevalence and this disease makes a significant contribution to the level of childhood disability. With cerebral palsy, functional disorders occur in almost all systems that are responsible for maintaining posture and moving the body in space. With all the variety of forms of the disease, the leading disorder in children is a violation of neuromuscular, skeletal and statodynamic functions. Functional inconsistency of the motor act in patients with cerebral palsy leads to a high probability of losing such a category of life activity as the ability to move independently.
Conclusion: the high contribution of cerebral palsy to the value of the childhood disability indicator and the predicted further increase in the number of children with cerebral palsy require further improvement of medical care for pregnant women, women in labor, women in labor and newborns.
