Background. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), there are currently no countries in the world where people do not suffer from dental and oral diseases. Despite the successes of recent decades in the prevention of dental caries, the introduction of new methods of treating dental diseases and the provision of dental care programmes for the population, the study of dental caries is not losing its relevance. The prevalence of dental caries varies considerably between countries, regions and areas. Purpose: to reveal the characteristics of caries morbidity and its complications at the regional level (Chuvash Republic) for 2010-2021, to apply and demonstrate the methodological basis and advantages of the mapping method for making adequate management decisions and directions of caries prevention. Methods: The study was conducted using the method of cartographic analysis and calculation of the ratio of averaged indicators (for 2010-2021) of caries morbidity and its complications. The method of determining the coefficient - SI - for each administrative district of the Chuvash Republic was used, where SI= the ratio of the caries morbidity rate to the caries complications morbidity rate. The sources of information were the materials of the statistical reporting of the dental service of the region (statistical form No. 30 "Information on medical organisation", section 7 "Work of the dental office" and section 8 "Work of dentists". Results: The advantages and methodical bases of cartographic analysis of caries morbidity at the regional level are shown, the developed ratio of caries morbidity index and its complications is an index of effectiveness of dental care to the population. Low caries morbidity rates and high levels of morbidity rates of complicated caries for a certain period of accounting are a negative parameter of the performance of outpatient and polyclinic link of dental care and the need for adequate management decisions. Conclusions: According to the results of caries prevalence through the prism of cartographic analysis at the regional level it is possible to form a model that allows to correlate the indicators of caries morbidity of the population and morbidity of complicated caries in relation to the provision of dental care. The index of dental care performance is developed, the correlation between the caries morbidity index and its complications is established, the advantages and methodological basis of cartographic analysis of caries morbidity at the regional level are shown. It provides an opportunity for timely assessment and correct management decisions in those areas that allow improving the current performance of the region's dental service.
