Summary:
Introduction. Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune skin disease that significantly impacts the patient's quality of life by reducing daily activities, leading to poorer social adaptation, psychological health, and overall well-being. Therefore, improving quality of life is one of the priority goals of psoriasis therapy. However, despite the development of specialized tools for assessing quality of life, such as the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), their use in clinical practice remains quite limited. A survey among dermatovenerologists will help understand the degree of integration of quality of life assessment methods into their clinical practice and identify potential barriers that may hinder their broader application.
Materials and methods. We conducted a survey of 26 dermatovenerologists based at the Republican Clinical Dermatovenerological Dispensary in Grozny.
Results. Despite specialists recognizing the importance of quality of life assessment in managing patients with psoriasis, there are significant barriers to the effective use of such methods as the DLQI in practice. Among the main issues identified during the study were: a lack of time for healthcare professionals to conduct quality of life assessments for patients, including limited opportunities to discuss the results with patients, and the absence of mechanisms to integrate assessment results into the clinical decision-making process.
Conclusion. The study results highlight the need for further research and the development of strategies to improve the integration of quality of life assessment methods into routine medical practice.
