MORBIDITY STATUS OF BREAST CANCER PATIENTS IN KABARDINO-BALKARIA AND PROSPECTS FOR THEIR DRUG SUPPLY

Summary:
Introduction (relevance). Breast cancer is one of the most common oncological diseases in women, ranking third in the causes of death in women in the Russian Federation. Drug therapy occupies a leading place in the fight against this pathology. Drug costs are compensated from budgets of various levels. The constituent entities of the Russian Federation provide such patients mainly under regional drug supply programs (the so-called regional benefits).
Purpose: to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the incidence of breast cancer in Kabardino-Balkaria and assess the degree of availability of drug provision for this category of patients.
Materials and methods. The work used information provided in the reports of regional health authorities of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic on the state of incidence of breast cancer and purchased drugs for inpatients and outpatients. The study was conducted using the method of systemic, content and marketing analyses.
Results. The analysis showed that in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic over the past decade, there has been a stable dynamics of growth in the primary incidence of breast cancer by an average of 38%. In women, among oncopathologies, this type of cancer is the leader, and there is also a low detection rate of this incidence (2 times lower than in the Russian Federation). At the same time, only 53% of patients actually receive drug therapy under a regional benefit. The assortment saturation of the market with anticancer drugs is only 18% of the list of vital and essential drugs.
Discussions. The results obtained indicate a stable increase in the primary incidence of breast cancer in the republic, while there is a low percentage of beneficiaries at the regional level, which indicates serious shortcomings in the drug supply system. The low assortment saturation of the market with anticancer agents at the level of 18% is a risk area. This significantly limits the ability of doctors to choose the most effective treatment methods for cancer patients.
Conclusions (conclusion). There was a coincidence in most of the assortment items of hypoglycemic drugs in the Russian and regional pharmaceutical markets. However, access to innovative drugs within the studied region is limited, which narrows the possibilities of an individual approach to treatment and reducing the severe consequences of the disease itself. One of the possible reasons may be the low information awareness of doctors and patients about innovative drugs.
