ROAD TRAFFIC INJURIES IN CHILDREN (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE ORENBURG REGION FOR THE PERIOD FROM 2015 TO 2023)

Summary:
The deterioration of the demographic situation in the country is associated with depopulation processes (mortality rates exceed birth rates) in the structure of mortality from external causes, a significant part are road accidents (road accidents), which are mostly manageable, which causes concern in society and are characterized by a relatively low age of death.
The purpose of this study is to study children's road traffic injuries in the Orenburg region, for the period from 2015 to 2023.
Material and methods. The study used data from Form No. 42 of the Report of a forensic medical expert, the Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination for the Orenburg Region of the state budgetary healthcare institution Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination (GBUZ BSME) and Monitoring the implementation of measures to reduce deaths from road accidents in the Orenburg Region for the period from 2015 to 2023.
Results. Statistical studies in the Orenburg region have shown that a large percentage of child deaths occur in road accidents. Of these, children under one year of age die less often than children from 1 to 14 years of age, the statistics for which are simply terrifying. Of the total number of injured, dead and deceased as a result of road accidents, the age group from 0 to 17 years accounts for 5.1%. In the Orenburg region, from 2015 to 2023, 12 children under one year old died. Moreover, over the past 6 years, 1 child has died, previously the figures were higher, 2-3 children died per year. In the age category from 1 to 14 years old, in 2022 this figure was 20 people, and in 2023 it increased almost one and a half times to 33 deaths. The lowest figure was recorded in 2018 and amounted to 17 children aged from 1 to 14 years.
Conclusion. Road traffic injuries among children in the Orenburg region remain at a high level, especially among the age group from 1 to 14 years. Of the total number of children injured in road accidents, child passengers and child pedestrians are most often affected.
The implementation of measures to reduce deaths from road accidents in the Orenburg region has shown effectiveness in the period from 2015 to 2023 for children under 1 year of age. Not only the number of accidents is decreasing, but also the number of injured and dead.
