Summary:
Annotation. Dry eye syndrome (DES) is becoming increasingly common due to increased time spent working with electronic devices, exposure to air conditioning, and age-related changes. The pathology is accompanied by dryness, burning, and a feeling of "sand" in the eyes and can cause discomfort and deterioration of vision. For treatment, drugs based on sodium hyaluronate and vita-mins (A, C, group B) are used, promoting corneal healing, strengthening the tear film, and stimulat-ing antioxidant protection.
Goal. Development of an ophthalmic solution containing sodium hyaluronate and B vitamins (B2, B6, B12) for the treatment and prevention of dry eye syndrome.
Materials and methods. The following were used: VPZh-2 viscometer, Milwaukee MC120 PRO pH monitor, Sartogosm CE224-S analytical scale, Advanced Instruments 3320 osmometer. The pH, osmolarity, viscosity and transparency of model solutions were measured in accordance with the requirements of the State Pharmacopoeia of the Russian Federation.
Results. Model solutions No. 1 (sodium hyaluronate, vitamin B12, buffer system) and No. 2 (sodi-um hyaluronate, vitamin B2, buffer system, EDTA) demonstrated compliance with the Pharmaco-poeia requirements for pH, viscosity and osmolarity. Solution No. 3 (with vitamin B6) was excluded due to the discrepancy between pH and physiological values.
Discussions. The addition of sodium hyaluronate provides hydration and stability of the tear film, B vitamins have a reparative and antioxidant effect. The results confirm the promise of a combination of hyaluronate with vitamins B2 and B12 for the development of ophthalmological agents for dry eye syndrome.
Conclusion. The developed solutions No. 1 and No. 2 comply with the requirements of the Pharma-copoeia of the Russian Federation and can be recommended for further testing as promising oph-thalmological drugs for the treatment of dry eye syndrome. The solution with vitamin B6 (No. 3) is excluded due to low pH.
Keywords Dry eye syndrome; sodium hyaluronate; vitamin B2; vitamin B12; ophthalmological solution
