Summary:
Annotation. Contagious skin diseases include infectious and parasitic diseases, some of which are socially significant. Insufficient awareness of medical students and health workers about the transmission routes and prevention of contagious skin diseases with high invasive potential leads to diagnostic errors and epidemiological outbreaks, which reduces the quality of medical care to the population.
Objective. Analysis of awareness of junior and senior medical students and health workers about contagious skin diseases and measures to prevent them.
Materials and methods. An observational, multicenter, cross-sectional study was conducted. To conduct it, the employees of Pirogov University developed and tested a special online questionnaire "The system-forming role of primary prevention of skin diseases of various origins". The study will be conducted in 2024-2025. The number of respondents was 580. The study was conducted on the basis of Pirogov University and the Federal Center for Medical Sciences of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia. The study design and implementation, informed consent form, and questionnaire were approved by the LEC of the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation on October 21, 2024, meeting minutes No. 244, and the LEC of the Federal Center of Medical Sciences of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia on February 17, 2025, meeting minutes No. 02/17-02-25.
Results. Respondents noted that their main source of health information was a doctor (89.7% of junior students, 87.2% of senior students, and 91% of medical workers); 62.4% of respondents among junior students, 63.3% of junior students, and 42.8% of medical workers received information from the Internet. 81.9% of junior students, 77.9% of senior students, and 75.2% of medical workers considered it necessary to consult a dermatovenereologist at the first signs of skin diseases. Among the respondents there is a group of those who are insufficiently informed about skin diseases and measures of their prevention, as well as about the issues of "healthy skin".
Conclusion. Hygienic education of medical workers, for example, within the framework of the "Healthy Skin" school, increasing the level of medical knowledge and medical activity can become a reserve for reducing the incidence rate and maintaining the incidence rate within controlled values.
