Summary:
Introduction. The introduction of digital technologies in healthcare requires students studying medical specialties to have special knowledge and be ready to apply them in the future. The purpose of the study is to assess the level of awareness, degree of involvement and willingness to use information technology and digital medical technologies by students of the medical Academy in the future. Material and methods. An online survey was conducted of 695 students (496 girls and 199 boys) of the 4th-6th courses of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov Medical Academy. The average age of the respondents was 21.5 ± 0.3 years. The survey was conducted using a specially designed questionnaire that allows us to study socio-demographic characteristics, students' awareness of key concepts of digital medicine, current practice of using information technologies and their willingness to use them in the future. Results and discussion. 56.1% are familiar with the concept of "telemedicine", 60.3% are familiar with "digital medicine", and 75% of respondents are familiar with "personalized medical care". Almost all students surveyed (96.8%) recognize the need to develop and implement technologies and devices in the healthcare sector. The most popular access tool is a smartphone (69.5%). 51.8% of respondents use social networks, online medical services/websites - 44.5%, medical mobile applications - 42%, personal computer – 41.3%. Of the digital tools of the future, our respondents are most in demand for videoconferences (47.9%) and doctor's consultations by phone or video (44.5%); of telemedicine devices, devices for remote monitoring of blood pressure (46.8%) and serum glucose (43.3%); of new technologies, the remote doctor service (31.8%). Despite the fact that most of our respondents actively use information technologies and the possibilities of digital medicine and are ready to use them in the future, it is necessary to note the rather cautious and selective attitude of future doctors to the issue under discussion. There is interest in new technologies, although it is restrained in relation to the most innovative ones. Conclusion. Future doctors are positive about the digitalization of medicine, but their awareness of specific tools and their experience of using them are insufficient for full-fledged work in an actively developing digital healthcare ecosystem.
