Summary:
Introduction. The Russian army and navy act as defenders of the Fatherland, its political stability and national security. Goal. To study quality of life parameters influencing health indicators of citizens during the spring 2025 conscription campaign. Materials and methods. In the spring of 2025, during the spring conscription of citizens for military service, a survey of 500 recruits was conducted at the assembly point of the Orenburg Region Military Commissioner's Office. To study the quality of life of this category of citizens, the international MOS SF-36 questionnaire (J.E. Ware, 1992) was used. Sample representativeness was determined using the formula of A.M. Merkov and L.E. Polyakov. Results and discussion. When self-assessing their health, conscripts rated it "excellent" in 26.2% of cases, "very good" in 14.0%, "good" in 42.1%, "fair" in 13.6%, and "poor" in 4.1%. Across all available scales of the aforementioned quality of life questionnaire, the overall average score out of 100 points was 75.14, with average values ranging from a minimum of 66.47 (general health) to a maximum of 87.92 (physical functioning). There was a slight predominance of the physical component of health (75.71 points) over the psychological component of health (74.57 points). Recruits with low quality of life parameters that are part of the psychological component of health during military service may be involved in interpersonal conflicts and experience unjustified feelings of fear and anxiety. Conclusion. Conscripts with high quality of life indicators were sent to staff military units with increased combat readiness and adapted more quickly to the realities of army life.
