Summary:
Relevance: according to research, all age categories of the population need dental care. Purpose of the study. To study the frequency of detection of defects of the dentition and the effectiveness of orthodontic treatment when contacting medical organizations of the second level. Material and methods: By descriptive statistics, 1618 cases of applying for orthopedic dental care were analyzed in connection with defects of dentition. Results of the study: An analysis of patient appealability in the Volgograd Regional Authority showed, that in the majority of patients (51.38 ± 1.4%), during treatment, the replacement of defects of medium length by prosthetic structures was carried out. Major defects were encountered in 397 people, which was 31.24 ± 1.3% of the number who applied for orthopedic dental care, minor defects in 17.39 ± 1.06%. Non-removable prostheses based on natural teeth were made in 5.23 ± 0.48% of cases of the total number of prostheses made, or 18.82 ± 1.6% of the number of prostheses made with large defects. These indicators were significantly lower than in patients of the first level of MO, which is probably due to the fact that more patients preferred non-removable structures on the implants. Patients with defects of dentition with a small length were less likely to need repeated prosthetic treatment than with defects of dentition with a large length. With repeated prosthetics in patients with large-length dentition defects, removable prostheses were used more often than in primary prosthetics. The treatment of second-level MO patients was carried out in accordance with the protocols and participation in the work of the orthodontist. Conclusion: Studies have shown that a larger number of patients who need it than in other MOs, where there is no orthodontist, applied to medical organizations equipped with orthodontists for prosthetic treatment.
