Summary:
The article describes hormonal predictors of dynapenia as a new geriatric syndrome. Pathogenetically, the development of dynapenia associated not only with age changes of muscular tissue, but also with the hormonal changes of the body that appear as we age. Some vitamins can slow down the aging process and the development of sarcopenia, one of the most important roles in this is given to vitamin D.
Purpose of research. To study the hormonal predictors of metabolic vitamin D in dynapenia the elderly.
Material and methods. The study included 477 elderly people aged 65 to 74 years, who were divided into groups according to the presence/absence of dynapenia and obesity. Determination of somatotropic hormone was carried out using immunochemiluminescent immunoassay (ECLIA). Solid-phase chemiluminescent enzyme immunoassay was used to study insulin-like growth factor 1 and parathyroid hormone.
Results and discussion. We have found that in women with dynapenia, with obesity and without it, the decrease in insulin-like growth factor in serum indicates that the level of this hormone may be a predictor of the development of dynapenia, as in obesity, and without it, and men with dynapenia, with obesity and without it, the decrease in insulin-like growth factor in serum indicates that the level of this hormone may be a predictor of the development of dynapenia and is not associated with the development of obesity with dynapenia. It was also shown that in women with dynapenia the PTH level may serve as predictor for dynapenia, as in obesity, and without it, and men with dynapenia increase of PTH level in serum may serve as a predictor of the development of dynapenia, as in obesity, and without it.
Summary. The development of dynapenia associated with a decrease in growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor, increased parathyroid hormone, which suggests that these indicators are universal, biologically active hormonal predictors of dynapenia the elderly.
Keywords dynapenia, sarcopenia, vitamin D, obesity, older age, insulin-like growth factor, parathyroid hormone, thyroid-stimulating hormone.
