At the same time, quite often there are cases when legal acts regulating the same relations contradict or differ significantly from each other. The purpose. Analysis of the possibility of fulfilling the provisions of the Order of the Ministry of Health of Russia No 203n in comparison with the current legal acts regarding the application of criteria for assessing the quality of medical care provided in the profile of «obstetrics and gynecology». Materials and methods. In article the formalized and non-formalized methods of assessment of official documents are used. Results and discussion. From the point of view of the theory of law, compared with the letters of the Ministry of Health of Russia, the orders of the Ministry of Health have more legal force. At the same time, letters by order of the Ministry of Health of Russia No 203n have not been canceled, which makes it possible to reach a conclusion about the legality of their use. It is obvious that the practical application of the Criteria will have a positive result. However, there may be some difficulties at combination of Criteria with other normative legal acts. Сonclusion. The presence of a significant number of legal acts regulating the process of providing medical care for preterm labor makes it difficult to assess the quality of medical care in the profile of «obstetrics and gynecology».
