Summary:
Introduction. The coronavirus pandemic requires adequate information for the population, which implies an assessment of their views on the risk of the disease and prevention measures. Purpose: to determine the effectiveness of information impact on the population of Krasnoyarsk Krai on the danger of coronavirus infection and prevention measures. Material and methods. The study was conducted by electronic questionnaire. 698 residents of 32 municipal districts of Krasnoyarsk Krai between the ages of 18 and 65 were interviewed. The questionnaire included questions about the danger of the disease, the probability of infection, the effectiveness of preventive measures, the readiness to comply with them, and preferred sources of information. An integrated assessment has been carried out and individual sources of information have been prioritized with regard to their specific weight. Results. It has been found that 69.1% of respondents consider coronavirus infection more dangerous than influenza and ARVI. Men and persons younger than 25 are less wary of infection. 48.4% of young people do not have a full understanding of the infection, 58.3% deny the possibility of infection, and 20.0% do not perceive preventive measures. Among prevention measures, 71.9-82.2% of the population prefer hand washing, social distancing and avoiding contact with potential patients. The most acceptable source of information for the population is television and radio with a specific weight of importance of 22.8%, as well as official reports of the Ministry of Health (20.9%) and the Russian Federation (17.0%), the Internet (16.7%) and, to a certain extent, recommendations of medical personnel (12.0%). In general, 81.1% of respondents consider effective information support on this problem. However, 44.5% of respondents were in favour of increasing public awareness of coronavirus and its prevention methods, where the potential for information exposure is primarily persons under 25 years of age and the male population as a whole. The sociological survey showed its validity in assessing the information provision of the population as an element of the choice of strategy in the implementation of preventive measures to reduce the prevalence of this infection.
