SATISFACTION WITH WORKING LIFE QUALITY OF MIDWIFERY SPECIALISTS WORKING IN RURAL HEALTH CARE

Summary:
Nowadays, working life quality is a factor affecting the final result of human labour in any area of activity. Working life quality of nursing staff affects the satisfaction of specialists with their work and, as a result, the quality of medical services that are provided by them to population. Purpose. To estimate satisfaction with working life quality of midwifery specialists working in rural health care Materials and methods. A questionnaire was created using newly developed questions to evaluate the main factors influencing the working life quality of midwifery specialists working in rural health care. To study the parameters characterizing working life quality of outpatient midwives operating in rural health care conditions, a survey of 248 respondents was conducted. Results. An anonymous survey of obstetric specialists working in rural health care conditions gave opportunity to establish the most significant factors determining the working life quality of this category of specialists: the level of wages (70.1 ± 5.8%), territorial proximity to home (70.1 ± 5 , 8%), the possibility of maintaining health (62.9 ± 4.4%), the psychological climate in the team (62.5 ± 6.3%), living conditions (52.6 ± 6.1%), adherence to the work schedule and functional responsibilities (49.6 ± 7.9%), rational nutrition at the workplace (47.6 ± 7.9%), leadership style (39.9 ± 2.9%), lack of resources to support the production process (38.7.2 ± 2.9 %), social guarantees (17.3 ± 4.1%). Despite the fact that almost a third of the respondents do not feel complete satisfaction with their work, 63.7 ± 4.1% of the respondents do not admit the possibility of switching to another field of activity, even with an increase in wages. The most relevant measures to increase the satisfaction level with working life quality in midwifery specialists working in rural health care conditions are the following: creating decent working conditions and social protection for midwifery specialists (89.9 ± 2.6%) , increasing the prestige of the profession of midwifery specialists (81.4 ± 3.5%), reforming the existing regulatory framework defining the competence and responsibility of midwifery specialists (41.5 ± 4.1%), improving the ethical aspects of the activities of midwifery specialists is less important (7.2 ± 3,3%) and the development of fundamental and applied scientific research in obstetrics 3.6 ± 3.4%. Conclusion. The low level of satisfaction with working life quality of midwifery specialists is due to the level of wages, irrational organization of working time, housing conditions, technical equipment of the workplace, lack of social guarantees and conditions for maintaining health. The most relevant measures to increase the satisfaction level with working life quality of midwives working in rural health care are the following: creating decent working conditions and social protection for midwives, increasing the prestige of the profession of midwives, reforming the existing regulatory framework that determines competence and responsibility of specialists in midwifery, less important is the improvement of the ethical aspects of the activities of specialists in midwifery and the development of fundamental and applied scientific research in midwifery.
