Summary:
Actuality. According to who, normal aging is determined by the viability in combination with the life environment of the geriatric patient, which together forms its functional abilities. Purpose. To study the clinical features of cognitive frailaty in the elderly. Materials and methods. The study involved 301 patients with an average age of 71.9±1.3 years. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome was studied among residents of a residential home. Diagnosis was carried out in accordance with the criteria adopted in 2005 by the International diabetes Federation. We used interview methods, analysis of medical records, a short scale for assessing the mental state of MMSE, and the scale of daily instrumental activity ADL. The respondents ' age viability was assessed using a 10-point version of the Conner-Davidson scale. The analysis of rehabilitation methods offered to patients with metabolic syndrome was carried out. Results. As a result of studying the prevalence of the phenomenon of polymorbidity, it was found that the metabolic syndrome was diagnosed in 37.7% (n=115) of patients. When studying the geriatric status of the studied elderly people in a residential home for the elderly and disabled, a higher prevalence of major geriatric syndromes was revealed in people with metabolic syndrome compared to patients who do not have one. At the same time, it is proved that with increasing severity of the metabolic syndrome, the geriatric status of patients significantly worsens, the degree of cognitive deficit increases, and there is a significant decrease in resilience on the Conner-Davidson scale. The study revealed that out of 115 elderly patients with metabolic syndrome who were in a residential home, positive dynamics of the clinical condition was observed in 48 patients (41.7±0.01%), no dynamics – in 19 patients (16.5±0.02%), negative dynamics was registered in 49 cases, which was 42.7±0.02%. Conclusion. The obtained data clearly demonstrate the need to study and develop methods of medical and social rehabilitation aimed at improving the parameters of cognitive frailty and increasing resilience in elderly patients with metabolic syndrome.
