Introduction. The head of the nursing service is the leading link in the organization of the work of the nursing staff. The highest requirements are placed on him not only in terms of education, but also in terms of competence, professional and personal qualities. The purpose of the work was to develop and justify an algorithm for implementing standards of nursing in a medical organization for the heads of nursing services. Materials and methods. Based on the use of statistical and analytical methods, the activities of the head of the nursing service were divided into several stages, allowing to develop and further implement standards of nursing in the practical activities of a medical organization. Results and discussion. The article describes in detail the algorithm and stages of development and implementation of nursing standards in a medical organization by the head of the nursing service. Conclusion. Nursing standards developed with the participation of the head of the nursing service for use in a medical organization solve the tasks that national standards fulfill. For example, protecting the rights of medical professionals and patients; planning the volume of medical care provided and calculating costs; conducting expertise, evaluating the quality of medical care for patients; improving planned measures of care; choosing the best technologies for patient care.
