ORGANIZATION OF EDUCATIONAL AND MEDICAL ACTIVITIES OF A MEDICAL UNIVERSITY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC-REGIONAL EXPERIENCE

Summary:
Introduction. The spread of the new COVID-19 infection required the health system to change approaches of providing medical care, as well as comprehensive mobilization of available resources [2], primarily human resources. Medical universities quickly joined the problems and took one of the leading places in the fight against the spread of a new coronavirus infection, providing thematic training at all levels. Purpose. To analyze, to systematize and generalize the experience of activities of FSBEI VOLSMU Russian Ministry of Health for training of specialists and interaction with the institutions of public health in terms of the spread of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 in the period from March to October 2020. Materials and methods. Assessment of regulatory documents and organizational measures taken by the University administration in the context of the spread of a new coronavirus infection for rapid training of specialists to work in an epidemic. Results. The first organizational step in the development in Russia the epidemiological situation, was the creation of FSBEI VOLSMU Russian Ministry of the operational headquarters for the fight against the proliferation COVID-19. The next step was to train practical health professionals to work in the new environment. In total, from April to October, 18 educational cycles were conducted within the framework of continuing medical education, which made it possible to improve the skills of 2,142 specialists (about 25 % of all doctors in the Volgograd region). In the context of the pandemic, the work of University clinics was also rebuilt with a focus on solving urgent problems related to the diagnosis of a new coronavirus infection. Over five months of work, more than 2,500 CT studies of the lungs and about 27,000 tests for COVID-19 were performed by PCR. Discussions. The centralization of all management decisions and actions - creation at the level of FSBEI VOLSMU Russian Ministry, a single coordinating body of staff with wide terms of reference and representation. In parallel with all the organizational steps, special attention was paid to the issues of collective and individual infectious safety of employees, students and visitors, as well as the formation of a system for monitoring the incidence of students and employees of the Federal state medical University of The Russian Ministry of health. The University management decided to start the academic year in a hybrid format of training, which means the use of full-time technologies in the implementation of educational programs in combination with distance education and e-learning. Conclusions. In the context of the spread of the new covid-19 infection in the period from April to October 2020, a wide range of operational measures were implemented at FSBEI VOLSMU Russian Ministry.
