Summary:
Senile asthenia syndrome in the elderly is a common condition, but is rarely studied in patients with ophthalmic diseases and in relation to morphometric indicators of visual deficit.
Objective: to Study senile asthenia syndromes in elderly patients with comorbid ophthalmic pathology.
Material and methods: the study of senile asthenia syndrome was conducted in 220 patients 60-74 years old with glaucoma and cataract and 200 patients 60-74 years old without this pathology, as well as in 45 patients 60-74 years old with glaucoma, cataract and senile asthenia syndrome and 38 patients 60-74 years old with glaucoma, cataract and without senile asthenia. Retinal thickness was determined by optical coherence tomography.
Results of the study: it was Found that patients aged 60-74 years with primary glaucoma and cataracts have a pronounced senile asthenia syndrome, and patients aged 60-74 years with these eye diseases have moderate senile asthenia with a significant difference in the components and the average value of the senile asthenia index, which is 0.52±0.07 points and 0.29±0.03 (P0,001), respectively. The formation of senile asthenia syndrome depends on the degree of thinning of the retinal thickness, which in elderly patients with glaucoma, cataract, senile asthenia is 267.5±2.8,and in similar patients without senile asthenia – 307.9± 3.2 (P0, 001).
Conclusion: Evaluation of the senile asthenia syndrome in elderly patients with glaucoma and cataracts will make it possible to carry out gerontoprophylaxis more efficiently.
