Introduction: The problem of accessibility and quality of medical care in medical organizations that provide inpatient care in the context of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is coming to the fore in most countries of the world. Unprecedented pressures on health systems can lead to disruptions in the delivery of health care to the population. Materials and methods: The authors studied the impact of the pandemic on the provision of medical care by medical organizations providing inpatient care on the basis of a sociological study (1630 people). Results and discussion: The article presents data that indicate that in the context of the pandemic, medical care provided by medical organizations in inpatient settings has avoided catastrophic failures and its volumes have remained at the same level, despite the unprecedented high burden on the health system in the situation of the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus. The majority of the population retained the possibility of hospitalization within the established regulatory deadlines. The Russian healthcare system has maintained a fairly high availability of medical care provided in a hospital setting.
