Introduction. Providing medical care to elderly and senile patients is an important task of the health system, a special place in which diagnosis belongs. The development of diagnostic algorithms for patient routing plays an important role in optimizing the work of medical laboratories. Purpose. Develop a diagnostic algorithm that optimizes the operation of the hospital and laboratory, taking into account the principles of logistics and continuity. Materials and methods. The materials used are the existing normative legal acts, methodological recommendations and standards, data from domestic and foreign scientific literature, results of the questionnaire. Statistical methods were applied, as well as methods of formal logic, closed type questionnaire. Results. The developed diagnostic algorithm for patient routing complies with the principles of continuity, flow, logistics. The success of this concept was proved by the results of a questionnaire, which showed an increase in clinician satisfaction with the work of the laboratory by 13%, in addition, the positive assessment of the laboratory departments significantly increased. Discussions. The development and implementation of a unique algorithm of laboratory studies of patients made it possible to solve the large medical and social problem of the metropolis: a positive effect was noted both among patients and treating doctors. The concept created made it possible to optimize the work of the laboratory and the entire hospital as a whole: the quality of medical care was improved, the role of secondary prevention in the hospital conditions increased, which corresponds to the modern principles of a risk-oriented approach widely implemented by the preventive health unit. Conclusions. Thus, the diagnostic algorithm made it possible to significantly optimize the work of the medical laboratory and the entire hospital as a whole, as well as bring to a new level the delegation of competences of the modern outpatient and inpatient units of the healthcare system.
