Introduction. Acute vascular lesions of the brain, which include brain infarction (ischemic stroke), for a long time occupy one of the leading positions among the causes of morbidity, long-term disability, disability of the population, as well as mortality. Objective: to conduct a comparative analysis of the indicators of the incidence of brain infarction in the Russian population and their variability over 8 years (2010 - 2017) as a whole and at regional levels, with further formation of the forecast until 2020. Material and methods. The study contained a detailed study of the values of the indicators of the general incidence of ischemic stroke per 100 thousand people in the Russian Federation from 2010 to 2017, based on statistical collections on the general incidence of the population of the Russian Federation for 2010-2017, developed by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. To compile the forecast values of the morbidity index for the period from 2018 to 2020, the statistical processing of primary information was carried out using the "TREND" computer software. Results and discussion. In the Russian Federation as a whole, there is an increase in the incidence of ischemic stroke (AI) in the adult population, which is confirmed by the average growth rate in 2010-2017 (5.2%). Also, a positive trend was revealed when analyzing the rate of increase in morbidity in the enlarged territorial units of Russia (federal districts (FD)). In the North Caucasus Federal District, the incidence increased by an average of 13.2%, which corresponds to the first place in the ranking of the incidence of brain infarction. The North-Western Federal District took the last place – the increase in the incidence was 3.0%. In the Central Federal District, the highest average growth rate was observed in the Ryazan Region. According to the calculated prognostic models for 2018-2020, there is also a tendency to increase the incidence of brain infarction both in the Russian Federation and in the FD. Conclusions. Due to the increase in the incidence of ischemic stroke in the adult population of the Russian Federation in the forecast period, it is advisable to further monitor it.
