ASSESSMENT OF POPULATION’S AWARENESS OF THE PREVENTION OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES

Summary:
Relevance. The wide spread of diseases of the circulatory system (CVD) among other nosological forms of diseases requires raising awareness of the population on prevention Purpose of the study: to study the level of public awareness on the prevention of diseases of the cardiovascular system Materials and methods. Materials and research methods. The results of a sociological study among 1200 residents of the Udmurt Republic over the age of 18 are presented. The study concerned the study of the degree of their awareness of the prevention of diseases of the circulatory system. Parametric and nonparametric methods of statistical analysis in Microsoft Office Excel were used to process the primary material. Results and discussion. The respondents were in the age range of 19 - 78 years, the average - 42 years. Their distribution by education level showed that the majority had a higher education (n = 468), in second place is the number of respondents with secondary specialized education (n = 408), almost 1/3 of the respondents had secondary education (n = 324). It has been established that self-assessment of the degree of one's awareness of the prevention of cardiovascular diseases does not depend on age, gender, and place of residence. Self-assessment of the level of awareness of the prevention of diseases of the circulatory system does not depend on age, gender, place of residence. Educational status affects self-esteem: people with secondary education rated their awareness on a scale from 0-10 to a high degree: by 8-10, with secondary specialized education: by 5. Among respondents with higher education, 20% indicated high awareness, - 29.9%, below the average by 4 points - 39.1% and significantly below the average - 11%. People with higher education are more critical of themselves. Respondents with secondary education had an overestimated self-esteem, which may affect the contribution of the number of complications from the cardiovascular system. Among the reasons for the lack of awareness are indicated: lack of time among health workers, low motivation, inconsistency of information in available sources. The priorities in preventive information were: normalization of body weight, increasing stress resistance, rational nutrition, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, combating bad habits, physical activity, normalizing cholesterol levels, ways to improve performance, combating arterial hypertension. According to the sources of information on the prevention of diseases of the circulatory system, the respondents assessed the significance on a five-point scale: 2.4 points to a therapist, 4.3 points to a cardiologist, their own social environment - 4.5 points, traditional media (television and radio broadcasts, print) - 3.3 points, new media (Internet sites, social networks) with a score of 4.6 points were preferred by 98% of the audience aged 18 to 40 over other means of communication. Conclusions. The results of the study show the need to increase knowledge on the prevention of diseases of the cardiovascular system.The main reasons: low motivation, lack of time for health workers, inconsistent information. A request for the correction of behavioral risk factors has been identified. The development of digital information means expands the possibilities for the prevention of diseases of the circulatory system.
