Summary:
Angle-closure glaucoma is often diagnosed in older populations, and the resulting visual impairment has been identified as an important risk factor for falls. However, the syndrome of falls in patients with angle-closure glaucoma, taking into account postural disorders, has practically not been studied. The aim of the study was to study the syndrome of falls in patients with angle-closure glaucoma, taking into account the parameters of postural disorders. Material and Methods - In the Tambov branch of the MNTK "Eye Microsurgery named after Academician SN Fedorov", 88 patients 60 - 74 years old with primary angle-closure glaucoma were examined, in whom the frequency of falls syndrome and stabilometric indicators of postural balance were studied using a stabilometric computer method. The results obtained were compared with the control group of the same age group without primary angle-closure glaucoma. Results of the study: It was revealed that the frequency of falls syndrome in the main group is more than 2 times higher than that in the age control group. There is a deterioration in postural balance in patients with angle-closure glaucoma by all criteria and especially in the angle of the center of pressure, which increased to 3.47 ± 0.5 degrees versus 0.25 ± 0.2 degrees in the control, similar to a change in the mean position of the center of pressure in the frontal plane the value of the path of the center of pressure. Conclusion: The severity of postural disorders in patients with angle-closure glaucoma 60-74 years old and the high incidence of falls indicate the influence of this ophthalmic disease on the prevalence of falls and postural balance changes.
Keywords fall syndrome, postural disorders, elderly, angle-closure glaucoma.
