Summary:
Introduction. The health of the younger generation is the main vector of public policy and an indicator of its implementation [1, 2]. However, the lifestyle of modern young people is characterized by irrationality in a number of parameters, which negatively affects the indicators of students' mental health.
The aim of the study is to assess the impact of the lifestyle of students of higher education institutions on some indicators of their mental health.
Materials and Methods. Psychological testing and questionnaires were administered to 1820 first- and fourth-year students of four Ufa universities. The psychological state was assessed on the basis of two tests: "Anxiety Self-Assessment Scale" by C.D. Spielberg and J.L. Hanin and "SUN" ("Feeling, activity, mood") [3, 4]. We obtained and analyzed 9100 indicators. The assessment of lifestyles of Ufa students was carried out by means of questionnaires. For this purpose we developed questionnaires for girls and boys consisting of 167 and 164 questions, respectively. The analysis of interrelation between lifestyle factors and some psychological health parameters was performed with the help of paired linear correlation analysis and construction of multiple regression equation.
Results and discussion. It was found that more than a third of the students (38,1%) needed the help of a psychologist. Every fourth student (23,8%) has a high level of reactive anxiety and every third (34,5%) respondent has a high level of personal anxiety. The average indicator of reactive and personal anxiety among girls is statistically significantly higher than among boys. Every seventh student (of all respondents) has an indicator of the "well-being" category (14.4%) and "mood" (13.8%) below the threshold level. Every third student (28.7%) also has an "activity" indicator below 4 points. The average index in the "activity" category for both girls and boys did not reach optimal values (4.73±0.21 and 4.76±0.1 respectively).
Conclusion. The obtained results indicate the necessity of organizing qualified psychological help for students. In evaluating the relationships, carried out with the help of paired linear correlation analysis and the construction of multiple regression equations, statistically significant correlations between individual lifestyle factors and mental health indicators of students were established.
